Thinking about the World in the Present Tense, Enrique Ramirez

ChamProjects and Eté 78 are launching a new cycle of meetings titled Thinking about the World in the Present Tense which will take place in December with new discoveries.

The idea behind this cycle is to have encounters with film- and video-makers casting an eye on the present-day world. In the art arena, for several years now, we have seen films playing with the codes of the documentary, and even blurring the boundaries between art, fiction and reportage.
A first meeting will take place with the Chilean film-maker Enrique Ramirez (born in 1979). His work questions both History—mainly Chile’s—and the contemporary world. The journey, which is a recurrent theme in his work, is usually imaginary and metaphorical. While being based on real facts, his films stem neither from fiction nor from documentaries. The long sequence shots, the voice-over poetic texts, and the music with its few contrasts all help to create a dreamlike atmosphere with an egregiously political and poetic power.

When these works have been screened, there will be a conversation between Anne-Laure Chamboissier et Enrique Ramirez, followed by a meeting with the audience.
