Shared Listening : Jean-Jacque Palix

ChamProjects and Eté 78 are launching a new cycle of meetings titled L’Ecoute partagée, to be held in December with new discoveries. The idea behind this cycle is to meet artists whose activities involve sound.

Jean-Jacques Palix is a composer and musical arranger for film and dance, a collector and archivist of rare music, and a sound hunter, and as such he is keenly aware of different experiments. After his years spent producing radio programmes at France Culture and then Radio Nova, which he co-founded in 1981, in 1985 he created his independent organization Tapage Atypique. Then, in 1991, he founded the Song Active record label to fulfil his desire to have a studio open to artistic, musical and sound encounters, free of all genre pigeonholing. He has also made films about the world of sound, co-curated the exhibition Cornelius Cardew, la liberté de l’écoute in 2009, and in 2013 he produced a Hörspiel “TPNY Memory” for France Culture’s ACR.
