THINKING ABOUT THE WORLD IN THE PRESENT TENSE : Romain Kronenberg

ChamProjects and Été 78 are carrying on the encounter cycle Réfléchir le monde au temps présent which started in March 2015. The idea behind this cycle is to meet film- and video-makers who are casting an eye on the present-day world. For several years now, in the art arena, we have seen filmic objects sketched out which do without the codes of the documentary, even if this means blurring the boundaries between art, fiction and reporting.

Romain Kronenberg, filmmaker, composer and musician, was born in 1975. He regularly works abroad, and especially in Turkey. Romain is currently working on two films : Été perpetual/Perpetual Summer (2016), in which a female figure re-activates her memory in order to mourn a beloved and a buried civilization ; and Heliopolis (2016), shot on the Syrian border, where four young men talk : summoning a myth, two communities finding refuge in an abandoned city where life, initially organized in a utopian way, is administered and becomes frozen, causing tensions to re-emerge; a coup d’état is in the offing. At Été 78, Romain Kronenberg will present excerpts from works and talk about them with Anne-Laure Chamboissier.
